Should I buy an eReader or a Tablet?

Which one should I buy a tablet or an eReader? It is a question that is asked by millions of people. And frankly speaking there is no straight forward answer to this question. If we try to compare a tablet with an eReader then according to me it will not at all be fair. Eight out of ten times the tablet will win over an eReader. And it will be like comparing an apple to an orange.

EReader is not the in thing any more.

Does it mean that eReader has lost its market and it is a safer bet to buy a tablet because of the varied features provided in the tablet? No I am not at all suggesting that at all. No let us, for a moment compare between a tablet and a laptop or a net book or even a desk top. If you consider the portability factor alone then the tablet wins hands down. But is it possible to work on a tablet for long hours or store huge number of data in your table? For that you will need your old war horse, the desk top pc or your lap top. Similarly when it comes to comparison between eReader and tablet eReader has its own functionalities which a tablet can replicate, but eReader has its own value and some people prefer to have an eReader review.

This reminds me of the time not long ago. In the starting of 2000 you needed to travel your favorite book or an eReader to make sure that you are able to do what you loved to do the most. But times have changed now you don't need to carry your heavy lap top and your book or eReader and all the attached chords along with you when you travel. Now a simple tablet suffices all your needs. You are able to check your mails. Get latest news updates. Have a conference call with your boss and also read your favorite book on the go with one small 7 inches or 10 inches device. It has given a new meaning to the word convenience.

So I should buy a tablet and not an eReader

I am not at all suggesting that tablets have over taken eReader or coming to a conclusion that we should prefer tablets over eReader. There are many draw backs of having a tablet. You cannot get a wide variety of books. Maybe the book that you want to read is not free in the tablet. Maybe your download of a particular book is not possible in a tablet as it is restricted. But if you buy an eReader it gives you plans that have a wide assortment of books with different contents. You can download them or just open them and read. top rated eReaders  gives you the convenience of storing as many books as you want but in a tablet you have minimum space and you need to allocate the right amount of space for all your different applications that you use or intend to use. If you are crossing the limit then your tablet performance will automatically slow down.

Then how do I decide on what to buy?

As I had said in the beginning, it is very difficult to come to a conclusion. It is solely based upon your needs. If you want a device just for the purpose of reading books then you can go for an eReader but if you want a device which can do multi tasking for you, like checking mails, giving latest updates, apart from reading books online then you can go for a tablet.
